About

Founder & Executive Director

Denise Williams

Denise Williams experienced mental health trauma from the seed of childhood to the height of adulthood.  The subsequent arresting consequences landed her inside the walls of the criminal justice system for a total of 16 years. During those times of incarceration, Denise experienced being re-traumatized.  Incarceration only taught her to suppress her trauma. During the loss of her mother Denise knew she had nothing left to do but survive the trauma, leaving her five children alone to care for themselves.  Denise isolated and withdrew herself to revisit all the trauma-related disorders she experienced. In doing so, she embarked on a method of decarceration of her mental health traumas.

After eight years of freedom, Denise was able to review the journals she kept during incarceration and became inspired to bring awareness to women and young girls of incarceration through a re-entry program designed to decarcerate the incarceration of their mental health disorders, while providing a place called home.
